As a result of the work of collecting and treating terrestrial and underwater archaeological artefacts, the Archeology Museum, inaugurated on October 24, 2008, is the culmination of the evolution of excavation projects carried out between 1992 and 2002, by the Afrimar and Arqueonautas Worldwid companies, in a space that began as a Conservation and Restoration Center, evolved into the Praia Museological Center, until reaching the current configuration.
Saber MaisThe estate consists essentially of collections of navigation instruments, ship's structure (window, rudder governor, pulley, pins, etc.), cannons and other war materials, assorted coins, amphorae and forms of sugar, ivory and bones, personal use (pocket watches, beads, cufflinks, buckles, manicure sets, pipes, tobacco, etc.), ceramic fragments, kitchen utensils, chains and handcuffs, in addition to artifacts representing life on board boats (wine and cognac bottles, bottles with medicinal products, mortars, flasks, syringes and personal hygiene materials (toothbrushes, potty, jug etc.) and traces of the first human settlements in Cidade Velha, Trindade and Baia de Alcatraz – Nossa Senhora da Luz, its social, cultural and religious way of life.
