Cabo Verdean legislation, law no. 102/III/90, frames the definition of archaeological heritage within that of Historic Sites, in which it defines that "they are works of the human being or joint works of the human being and nature, sufficiently characteristic and homogeneous spaces, in such a way as to be geographically delimited, remarkable for its historical, archaeological, artistic, scientific or ethnological interest".
