Sra. da Luz church is one of the most important churches on the island of Santiago. It is estimated that its construction dates back to the fifteenth century, more specifically in 1480, holding the primacy of monuments in Cabo Verde. It retains Gothic features in its architecture, and on the side walls there is a coat of arms attributed to D. Jo\u00e3o III. In the 1980s, this building, already in ruins, suffered some disfiguration with the creation of annexes and other adjacent spaces.
