This religious institution was built around 1870 to house the chapter, which, through the bull of Pope Benedict XIV, had been transferred to the village of Ribeira Brava, three years earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later, in 1943, it would be reconverted into an orphanage, operating until the seventies of the twentieth century as a pole of agglutination of the population around Christian principles and values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
