The idea of creating the museum arose from the need to value and promote the historical memory of the island. The project was developed and implemented in a partnership between the Cultural Heritage Institute and the City Council of Sal, with the acquisition and donation of heritage properties by some private individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opened on 07 November 2015, this museum's mission is to safeguard, enhance and promote the historical, ethnographic and cultural heritage of the island of Sal for public enjoyment and particularly for new generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sal Museum is dedicated to research, collection, documentation, cataloging and conservation of cultural properties of heritage value associeted to the history and culture of the island. Also, make the cultural properties an instrument of education, identity construction and promotion through its exhibitions and publications. <\/p>\n\n\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\tLer mais\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n

Tem como p\u00fablicos a popula\u00e7\u00e3o em geral, os visitantes turistas, os estudantes, os investigadores, entre outros. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

O Museu do Sal apresenta uma exposi\u00e7\u00e3o permanente constitu\u00edda por um acervo que representa diferentes tem\u00e1ticas centrais relacionadas com a constru\u00e7\u00e3o identit\u00e1ria da ilha, nomeadamente a problem\u00e1tica da \u00e1gua, as ind\u00fastrias salineira, aeron\u00e1utica e hoteleira, bem como objetos etnogr\u00e1ficos que mostram a conflu\u00eancia de pessoas e culturas oriundas das outras ilhas do arquip\u00e9lago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O museu est\u00e1 instalado no edif\u00edcio do Centro Cultural, na cidade de Santa Maria. Este edif\u00edcio de interesse hist\u00f3rico antecede o s\u00e9culo XX, e nele funcionou v\u00e1rias depend\u00eancias do estado, nomeadamente a antiga alf\u00e2ndega e os correios. Por si s\u00f3, o edif\u00edcio possui um valor patrimonial de grande interesse e, com a implementa\u00e7\u00e3o do museu o seu valor ficou acrescido.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
